On Rue au Maire, Le Tango, also known as La Boîte à Frissons, carries on a bal-musette tradition dating back to the late 19th century. The venue has kept all the old-fashioned charm of a classic dance hall, with 1950s décor, tables and banquettes lining the floor. On the music side, tango, cha-cha-cha, campy 70s disco and rock'n'roll all get their turn, everything gets danced here except techno. The crowd is predominantly LGBTQ+, in a friendly, unpretentious atmosphere often described as a must for experiencing a slice of Parisian nightlife history.
