Variations on Tenderness by Pol Pi, Nitsan Margaliot and Antoine Mermet

Since tenderness accepts as many definitions as there are personal experiences, two performer-choreographers and one performer-musician invite us to a collective and experimental search around this anti-authoritarian watchword, transforming both the ways of being together and the forms of representation itself.

If tenderness is a territory, then competition, control, and the demand for productivity certainly have no place there, even if they reign supreme elsewhere. For the bodies that enter this largely unexplored zone, it is a matter of relearning to listen to one another, to respect one another, to inhabit each other. It is this ethic that Pol Pi, Nitsan Margaliot, and Antoine Mermet invite the public to practice, through an experimental process informed by archives, interviews with queer activists, and workshops conducted with the public during each residency period. From this emerges a form somewhere between performance, learning space, and gathering. A protected yet porous space, where vulnerability is shared and where listening to one's own desire cannot be negotiated without listening to others. Engaging writing, speech, song, and movement, Variations on Tenderness thus opens a breach toward a radical way of living together.
