Soirée de solidarité avec la communauté LGBTI+ EN TURQUIE
On the night of September 12, 2026, as part of Operation "My Family is Safe" by the Turkish government, simultaneous raids were carried out in several Turkish cities, targeting homes, association offices, and entertainment venues. These operations specifically targeted seven LGBTI+ rights organizations and two HIV/AIDS organizations.
At the same time, a disinformation campaign against LGBTI+ organizations and activists was launched. At least 162 people were taken into custody: LGBTI+ activists and feminists, trans people, sex workers, lawyers, journalists, and members of civil society. At least 82 people were subsequently detained, including founders of organizations and members of their boards of directors.
The social media accounts of journalists, associations and media outlets that relayed these operations or expressed their solidarity with LGBTI+ people were also censored.
These accusations demonstrate an intention to criminalize LGBTI+ people and to present as criminal associative activities that are nevertheless legitimate and based on the defense of human rights.
One month after the start of these operations, we wish to continue international solidarity and give a voice to those who continue, in Türkiye, to defend rights and freedoms.
This evening will be an opportunity to take stock of the current situation, to listen to the testimonies of people directly involved on the ground and to exchange ideas on the different forms of solidarity that we can continue to build.
Now more than ever, international solidarity is essential.
With the participation of:
